Processing High Quality Oil from Tea Seeds

Tea tree is a perennial evergreen plant, which has certain requirements on climate conditions. Therefore, tea trees are mainly distributed in subtropical and tropical regions. In this vast area, more than 50 countries (regions) produce tea. There are more than 20 major tea producing countries including China, India, Sri Lanka, Japan, Soviet, Indonesia and Kenya.

      Camellia Seed Oil Extraction Process

Pretreatment of Tea Seeds: Tea Seeds → Shelling → Drying → Crushing → Screening

      Subcritical Low temperature Extraction Process

Active substances especially highly soluble plant oils, natural pigments and plant proteins can be extracted from bio-materials (plants and animals) through the process of extraction technology, such as extracting oil and Tea Polyphenols from tea. For the extraction process, a substance that exists in the form of a gas is subjected to immense pressure causing it to turn to a fluid state. This makes it possible for the molecules in the raw material to diffuse into this solvent, thus speeding up the rate at which the active substances are absorbed into the fluid (solvent). This extraction technology is very efficient especially in the extraction of herbal oils, essential oils, natural pigments and plant proteins, etc.

The following are the advantages of our cold extraction technology:

      • Extraction using the technology emits no discharge ensuring that there are no pollutants emitted to the air. This is made possible by the fact that there is no excessive heating of substances especially chemicals that emit a lot of harmful gases to the atmosphere to form a solvent. The extraction process is therefore 100% environmental friendly.
      • Through the extraction technology, raw materials can be extracted under low temperature. This ensures that the substances that are heat sensitive are protected from heat destruction meaning that the highest quality and value of the extracts are realized.
      • Energy Saving: Up to 70% of heat is saved by the use of extraction technology because it does not require as much steam as the traditional extraction solvents whereby a lot of heat is required to produce and maintain the supply of steam for the extraction process.
      • The efficacy of the technologically assisted extraction method cannot be overlooked especially for the extraction of soluble oils from plants. The technology ensures that all the required molecules are diffused into the extraction solvent as opposed to other traditional extraction methods whereby so much molecules were lost or destroyed through the use of excessive temperatures especially for the substances that are heat sensitive.
      • The extraction machine is relatively cheap than supercritical extraction equipment since lower pressure is required, but share the same quality of final extracts. This ensures that low production costs are realized.

      Global Distribution of Tea

      global tea production
      World Market of Tea

      East Asia: China, Japan.
Southeast Asia: Indonesia, Vietnam, Myanmar and Malaysia.
South Asia: India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. These 3 countries produce more than 46% of the world's tea, and two-thirds of exports.
Western Asia: Soviet Union (Asia), Iran and Turkey. These 3 countries produce about 8% of the world's tea.
Africa: The main producers of tea are Kenya, Uganda, Malawi, Tanzania and Mozambique. Africa produces about 7% of the world's tea. In addition, Zaire, Rwanda, Cameroon, South Africa and Mauritius have also produced a small amount of production.
America: Argentina, Brazil, Peru, Mexico, Colombia, etc.
